Tucson Medical Center is proud to announce major milestones in two projects aimed at improving the emergency department experience for both adults and children.

Phase 1 of a three-phase project to renovate the main emergency department is complete and opens Wednesday, Feb. 12. The first phase adds 18 private rooms, including three designed for major medical cases. Future phases will renovate the entire emergency department, providing all private rooms and creating a safer, more efficient environment for patient care.

The Pediatric Emergency Department is also undergoing significant improvements with the renovation of its admitting and triage area, which includes the addition of three triage rooms.

TMC's adult and pediatric emergency departments serve more than 100,000 patients annually, the most in Arizona. This marks the first major renovation in more than 25 years, significantly expanding TMC’s capacity to better serve the community.
