Dockery was a traveling nurse until he took a job at TMC 18 months ago.

“We came to Tucson and my wife and I just loved it,” he said.

And that love shows in his work. He was recognized for his dedication to post-surgical patients.

His nomination said he is known for his strong work ethic, diligence, and dedication.

“His work ethic towards patient care and satisfaction serves as an inspiration to colleagues, fostering a positive work environment...His holistic approach encompasses the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of patient well-being, ensuring a personalized and compassionate care experience.”

Dockery is working on a Bachelor of Nursing degree, with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.

He was surprised and humbled by the nomination.

“It really blew my mind,” he said of the award.

His nomination also noted his contributions to the community by engaging in various fundraisers and community sporting events. His passions include running and cycling, which the nomination noted “showcases his dedication to enhancing the overall health and vitality of the Tucson community.”

Dockery's commitment to community is evident in the positive and resilient mindset he fosters within the healthcare community too, "Neil is the person reminding others that can get through tough shifts."

Dockery said he wasn’t aware of this type of recognition in other places he’s worked and was grateful for the recognition.  

“It’s really an exceptional thing to do for nurses,” he said about the award and subsequent award ceremony. “It’s really overwhelming and it’s so nice to be appreciated.”
